Honoring Our Veterans

On Thursday, May 26, 2016, CHGO attorneys Ken Heinz, Pat Chassaing and Carl Lumley participated in the Memorial Day Observance at the Mid-County Memorial Gazebo on THE HEIGHTS grounds.

Ken Heinz is the chairman of the Veteran’s Memorial Committee, a citizen’s committee comprised of citizens and veterans from throughout Mid-St. Louis County, established to provide a suitable and lasting memorial to all veterans who have served the United States of America. The group broke ground on the memorial in May 2013; it was formally dedicated on November 10, 2013. The memorial provides a lasting place to honor any and all veterans, host veteran events and other community events, as well as a place for quiet reflection on the sacrifices of all veterans, past and present. Pat Chassaing has also been an active member of the committee.

Robert Lumley, Carl’s father, was recognized at the ceremony, honored for his service to his country as a captain and B17 navigator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Robert Lumley was a decorated veteran, with honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 3 battle stars, and Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaign Ribbons.
