CHGO principal Patricia "Tricia" Susi will be a panelist at the American Bar Association's Family Law Conference in Chicago this October.

Tricia is one of three distinguished panelists presenting "Overcoming Presumptions of 50/50 Custody: A View From Both Sides of the Bench." The session examines equal parenting time presumptions from two angles: the attorneys who argue these cases and the judges who decide them.

It's a timely topic. A growing number of states, Missouri included, now start custody cases from a presumption that equal or nearly equal parenting time is in a child's best interest. That starting point works for many families, but not all of them. Knowing when it fits, and how to show the court when it doesn't, is some of the most important work a family law attorney does.

Tricia brings a lot to that conversation. She is one of two principals leading the family law practice at CHGO, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and Treasurer of the Academy's Missouri Chapter. She is also a trained mediator and has presented to Missouri attorneys on presumptions in family law and child-centered parenting plans.
