Judge Jon Beetem of the Circuit Court of Cole County recently struck down portions of what is commonly known as Senate Bill 5 (SB5) or Mack’s Creek II. The legislation, passed in May 2015 and effective on August 28, 2015, continues to be reviewed and scrutinized; the new ruling was the result of a lawsuit filed by 12 communities in St. Louis County and two individuals.
